Patrick Sasso, Canadian born artist and NYC resident enjoys a colorful career as a musician, producer, photographer, filmmaker and composer for film and TV. His knowledge of art and technology combines to enhance his effectiveness as an editor, producer, music supervisor and technical advisor.
Sasso began his career behind the lens while still in high school. Working with manual SLR's and striving to emulate the styles of Robert Frank and Henri-Cartier Bresson, Sasso set a goal to remain as candid and unobtrusive as possible. Experiment and independent study led to his greater understanding of light play, character and intimate depth-of-field. These skills, along with his open and engaging mannerisms allow Sasso to achieve both a candid and revealing look into his subjects. You can find more of his photos at sassofoto.com.
As a musician, Sasso was fortunate to have studied a wide range of classical and popular standards for piano as a child and continued thusly under private tutelage until he discovered blues & jazz improvisation. The often enharmonic dissonance of which has henceforth influenced his compositional style. At a very young age Sasso began experimenting with synthesizers, midi composition and four-track recording in his home studio and it wasn't long after that he received his first scoring commission in college for a feature film. That film was the seed for his new-found love of film scoring.
His work has alternated between producing, editing, photography, film scoring and design. He has written, scored and produced short films and industrial promos for companies such as Citigroup and Philip Morris and has created public service announcements for various non-profit organizations, including Hurricane Katrina relief funds. Sasso continues to produce music, short films, promos, artist demos, jingles and voiceovers. Most recently, he has produced the debut album "Days Outstanding" for Pongo Face—a group he created in order to experiment with new sounds and compositional techniques.
